This is a great drink to help ANYONE unwind after a stressful day! It also helps greatly with sore muscles! I like to drink this after practicing back bend variations since I usually am pretty sore afterwards. This drink helps to relax the muscles and relieve pain but can also help them to relax for better stretching.

The main herb in this drink is kava kava. It has a pretty intense taste. It is quite bitter and tends to numb the entire mouth. It’s really fun to drink if you can handle the taste! This recipe helps to cut that crazy flavor that so many dislike. If you follow this recipe you will be just fine!

Kavalactones, the main constituent in kava that causes relaxation can NOT be used warmed or heated, as they are destroyed. Kavalactones are also fat soluble so the base must be done in an almond or, even better, coconut milk.

This recipe is for 2-4 servings depending how much you would like to relax!

Traditionally, kava is not sipped, it is chugged! However I tend to let mine last at least 15-20 minutes.


-4 heaping T Kava Kava Powder (I buy mine from Kona Kava. They are truly the best.)
-4c Coconut Milk
-1t Coconut Oil
-5 Drops Liquid Stevia
-2.5T Cacao Powder
-1 Frozen Banana
-2T Mucuna (if using extract use 1/2t)

Blend all in high powered blender and let sit for 5-10 minutes before consuming. This will allow the fats and kavalactones to combine.

Not only is this smoothie super pretty, it tastes AMAZING and gives you so much energy! Start your day with something sweet and tasty, or make one before you go to the gym!


-1 cup frozen blueberries

-1 cup cantaloupe, frozen if possible

-1 tbs Chia Seeds

-2 tbs cacao nibs

-1/2 scoop vanilla Sun Warrior protein

-1 tbs coconut oil or mana

-Vanilla almond or hemp mylk

Blend all ingredients in the Vitamix and enjoy!!


Morning Smoothie April 14, 2012

This Smoothie is sweet and sour and will really boost up your morning!

-1 grapefruit
-6 apricots
-1tbs cacao nibs
-2 cups hemp milk

Put all ingredients in blender and enjoy! Add more hemp milk to thin out if desired or some ice to make it cold!


Super Mango Smoothie April 11, 2012

This is a super nutrient dense Smoothie and it only has four ingredients! Its super easy to make and super yummy!

-1 ripe mango, peeled and pitted
-1 handful Goji Berries
-1-2 tbs cacao nibs
-1 cup vanilla almond milk

Place all ingredients in blender and blend well! Add more milk to make thinner, or add ice cubes to make into a frozen Smoothie!

Expect to see a lot of amoothies and soups popping up this week as I am doing a liquid only cleanse!


Chai Smoothie

-1 cup cashews, soaked overnight and rinsed
-1 cup ice cubes
-1 scoop vanilla Sun Warrior protein
-1/2 tsp ground cardamom
-1 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
-1/2 tsp all spice
– chunk of ginger about the size of a quarter, or 1 tsp ground ginger
-pinch of salt
-1 1/2 cup water

Blend all ingredients in vitamix until smooth! Very creamy and very filling!


Pumpkin Pie Smoothie October 22, 2011

Great healthy dessert smoothie for the upcoming season!

Serves 2

3.5 cups raw pumpkin. (Make into mush with juicer or use canned)
3 cups vanilla rice or almond milk
2tbs honey (I used maple and vanilla enhanced)
1tsp Vietnamese cinnamon
3/4 tsp all spice
Couple dashes nutmeg
1/4 tsp vanilla bean
2 handfuls ice (you can also use a frozen banana if you eat them)
Cacao nibs optional… I obviously put them in 🙂

Blend all ingredients in blender until smooth! Enjoy with a friend!

  • Thai Coconut
  • 3 tbsp Cacao Powder
  • Heaping tbsp Maca
  • Handful Goji!
  • 2 tbsp hemp seeds
  • 1/4 tsp Shilajit (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp Cordyseps (optional)
  • frozen strawberries
  • ginseng mate tea (or favorite energizing tea)
  • Himalayan salt
  • sweetener (optional)
  • 1 tsp Mesquite
  • Gel from 1 aloe leaf
